Exodus 1:2Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah;
Exodus 1:3Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin;
Numbers 1:1On the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt, the LORD spoke to Moses in the Tent of Meeting in the Wilderness of Sinai. He said:
Numbers 1:2“Take a census of the whole congregation of Israel by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one.
Numbers 1:3You and Aaron are to number those who are twenty years of age or older by their divisions—everyone who can serve in Israel’s army.
Numbers 1:4And one man from each tribe, the head of each family, must be there with you.
Numbers 1:5These are the names of the men who are to assist you: From the tribe of Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;
Numbers 1:6from Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;
Numbers 1:7from Judah, Nahshon son of Amminadab;
Numbers 1:8from Issachar, Nethanel son of Zuar;
Numbers 1:9from Zebulun, Eliab son of Helon;
Numbers 1:10from the sons of Joseph: from Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud, and from Manasseh, Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;
Numbers 1:11from Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni;
Numbers 1:12from Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;
Numbers 1:13from Asher, Pagiel son of Ocran;
Numbers 1:14from Gad, Eliasaph son of Deuel;
Numbers 1:15and from Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.”
Numbers 1:16These men were appointed from the congregation; they were the leaders of the tribes of their fathers, the heads of the clans of Israel.
Numbers 1:17So Moses and Aaron took these men who had been designated by name,
Numbers 1:18and on the first day of the second month they assembled the whole congregation and recorded their ancestry by clans and families, counting one by one the names of those twenty years of age or older,
Numbers 1:19just as the LORD had commanded Moses. So Moses numbered them in the Wilderness of Sinai:
Numbers 1:20From the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, according to the records of their clans and families, counting one by one the names of every male twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Numbers 1:21those registered to the tribe of Reuben numbered 46,500.
Numbers 1:22From the sons of Simeon, according to the records of their clans and families, counting one by one the names of every male twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Numbers 1:23those registered to the tribe of Simeon numbered 59,300.
Numbers 1:24From the sons of Gad, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Numbers 1:25those registered to the tribe of Gad numbered 45,650.
Numbers 1:26From the sons of Judah, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Numbers 1:27those registered to the tribe of Judah numbered 74,600.
Numbers 1:28From the sons of Issachar, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Numbers 1:29those registered to the tribe of Issachar numbered 54,400.
Numbers 1:30From the sons of Zebulun, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Numbers 1:31those registered to the tribe of Zebulun numbered 57,400.
Numbers 1:32From the sons of Joseph: From the sons of Ephraim, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Numbers 1:33those registered to the tribe of Ephraim numbered 40,500.
Numbers 1:34And from the sons of Manasseh, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Numbers 1:35those registered to the tribe of Manasseh numbered 32,200.
Numbers 1:36From the sons of Benjamin, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Numbers 1:37those registered to the tribe of Benjamin numbered 35,400.
Numbers 1:38From the sons of Dan, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Numbers 1:39those registered to the tribe of Dan numbered 62,700.
Numbers 1:40From the sons of Asher, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Numbers 1:41those registered to the tribe of Asher numbered 41,500.
Numbers 1:42From the sons of Naphtali, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Numbers 1:43those registered to the tribe of Naphtali numbered 53,400.
Numbers 1:44These were the men numbered by Moses and Aaron, with the assistance of the twelve leaders of Israel, each one representing his family.
Numbers 1:45So all the Israelites twenty years of age or older who could serve in Israel’s army were counted according to their families.
Numbers 1:46And all those counted totaled 603,550.
Numbers 1:47The Levites, however, were not numbered along with them by the tribe of their fathers.
Numbers 1:48For the LORD had said to Moses:
Numbers 1:49“Do not number the tribe of Levi in the census with the other Israelites.
Numbers 1:50Instead, you are to appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the Testimony, all its furnishings, and everything in it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its articles, care for it, and camp around it.
Numbers 1:51Whenever the tabernacle is to move, the Levites are to take it down, and whenever it is to be pitched, the Levites are to set it up. Any outsider who goes near it must be put to death.
Numbers 1:52The Israelites are to camp by their divisions, each man in his own camp and under his own standard.
Numbers 1:53But the Levites are to camp around the tabernacle of the Testimony and watch over it, so that no wrath will fall on the congregation of Israel. So the Levites are responsible for the tabernacle of the Testimony.”
Numbers 1:54Thus the Israelites did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Numbers 10:1Then the LORD said to Moses,
Numbers 10:2“Make two trumpets of hammered silver to be used for calling the congregation and for having the camps set out.
Numbers 10:3When both are sounded, the whole congregation is to assemble before you at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
Numbers 10:4But if only one is sounded, then the leaders, the heads of the clans of Israel, are to gather before you.
Numbers 10:5When you sound short blasts, the camps that lie on the east side are to set out.
Numbers 10:6When you sound the short blasts a second time, the camps that lie on the south side are to set out. The blasts are to signal them to set out.
Numbers 10:7To convene the assembly, you are to sound long blasts, not short ones.
Numbers 10:8The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to sound the trumpets. This shall be a permanent statute for you and the generations to come.
Numbers 10:9When you enter into battle in your land against an adversary who attacks you, sound short blasts on the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the LORD your God and saved from your enemies.
Numbers 10:10And on your joyous occasions, your appointed feasts, and the beginning of each month, you are to blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings to serve as a reminder for you before your God. I am the LORD your God.”
Numbers 10:11On the twentieth day of the second month of the second year, the cloud was lifted from above the tabernacle of the Testimony,
Numbers 10:12and the Israelites set out from the Wilderness of Sinai, traveling from place to place until the cloud settled in the Wilderness of Paran.
Numbers 10:13They set out this first time according to the LORD’s command through Moses.
Numbers 10:14First, the divisions of the camp of Judah set out under their standard, with Nahshon son of Amminadab in command.
Numbers 10:15Nethanel son of Zuar was over the division of the tribe of Issachar,
Numbers 10:16and Eliab son of Helon was over the division of the tribe of Zebulun.
Numbers 10:17Then the tabernacle was taken down, and the Gershonites and the Merarites set out, transporting it.
Numbers 10:18Then the divisions of the camp of Reuben set out under their standard, with Elizur son of Shedeur in command.
Numbers 10:19Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai was over the division of the tribe of Simeon,
Numbers 10:20and Eliasaph son of Deuel was over the division of the tribe of Gad.
Numbers 10:21Then the Kohathites set out, transporting the holy objects; the tabernacle was to be set up before their arrival.
Numbers 10:22Next, the divisions of the camp of Ephraim set out under their standard, with Elishama son of Ammihud in command.
Numbers 10:23Gamaliel son of Pedahzur was over the division of the tribe of Manasseh,
Numbers 10:24and Abidan son of Gideoni was over the division of the tribe of Benjamin.
Numbers 10:25Finally, the divisions of the camp of Dan set out under their standard, serving as the rear guard for all units, with Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai in command.
Numbers 10:26Pagiel son of Ocran was over the division of the tribe of Asher,
Numbers 10:27and Ahira son of Enan was over the division of the tribe of Naphtali.
Numbers 10:28This was the order of march for the Israelite divisions as they set out.
Numbers 10:29Then Moses said to Hobab, the son of Moses’ father-in-law Reuel the Midianite, “We are setting out for the place of which the LORD said: ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things to Israel.”
Numbers 10:30“I will not go,” Hobab replied. “Instead, I am going back to my own land and my own people.”
Numbers 10:31“Please do not leave us,” Moses said, “since you know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can serve as our eyes.
Numbers 10:32If you come with us, we will share with you whatever good things the LORD gives us.”
Numbers 10:33So they set out on a three-day journey from the mountain of the LORD, with the ark of the covenant of the LORD traveling ahead of them for those three days to seek a resting place for them.
Numbers 10:34And the cloud of the LORD was over them by day when they set out from the camp.
Numbers 10:35Whenever the ark set out, Moses would say, “Rise up, O LORD! May Your enemies be scattered; may those who hate You flee before You.”
Numbers 10:36And when it came to rest, he would say: “Return, O LORD, to the countless thousands of Israel.”
Numbers 26:1After the plague had ended, the LORD said to Moses and Eleazar son of Aaron the priest,
Numbers 26:2“Take a census of the whole congregation of Israel by the houses of their fathers—all those twenty years of age or older who can serve in the army of Israel.”
Numbers 26:3So on the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho, Moses and Eleazar the priest issued the instruction,
Numbers 26:4“Take a census of the men twenty years of age or older, as the LORD has commanded Moses.” And these were the Israelites who came out of the land of Egypt:
Numbers 26:5Reuben was the firstborn of Israel. These were the descendants of Reuben: The Hanochite clan from Hanoch, the Palluite clan from Pallu,
Numbers 26:6the Hezronite clan from Hezron, and the Carmite clan from Carmi.
Numbers 26:7These were the clans of Reuben, and their registration numbered 43,730.
Numbers 26:8Now the son of Pallu was Eliab,
Numbers 26:9and the sons of Eliab were Nemuel, Dathan, and Abiram. It was Dathan and Abiram, chosen by the congregation, who fought against Moses and Aaron with the followers of Korah who rebelled against the LORD.
Numbers 26:10And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them along with Korah, whose followers died when the fire consumed 250 men. They serve as a warning sign.
Numbers 26:11However, the line of Korah did not die out.
Numbers 26:12These were the descendants of Simeon by their clans: The Nemuelite clan from Nemuel, the Jaminite clan from Jamin, the Jachinite clan from Jachin,

Numbers 26:18These were the clans of Gad, and their registration numbered 40,500.
Numbers 26:19The sons of Judah were Er and Onan, but they died in the land of Canaan.
Numbers 26:20These were the descendants of Judah by their clans: The Shelanite clan from Shelah, the Perezite clan from Perez, and the Zerahite clan from Zerah.
Numbers 26:21And these were the descendants of Perez: the Hezronite clan from Hezron and the Hamulite clan from Hamul.
Numbers 26:22These were the clans of Judah, and their registration numbered 76,500.
Numbers 26:23These were the descendants of Issachar by their clans: The Tolaite clan from Tola, the Punite clan from Puvah,
Numbers 26:24the Jashubite clan from Jashub, and the Shimronite clan from Shimron.
Numbers 26:25These were the clans of Issachar, and their registration numbered 64,300.
Numbers 26:26These were the descendants of Zebulun by their clans: The Seredite clan from Sered, the Elonite clan from Elon, and the Jahleelite clan from Jahleel.
Numbers 26:27These were the clans of Zebulun, and their registration numbered 60,500.
Numbers 26:28The descendants of Joseph included the clans of Manasseh and Ephraim.
Numbers 26:29These were the descendants of Manasseh: The Machirite clan from Machir, the father of Gilead, and the Gileadite clan from Gilead.
Numbers 26:30These were the descendants of Gilead: the Iezerite clan from Iezer, the Helekite clan from Helek,

Numbers 26:32the Shemidaite clan from Shemida, and the Hepherite clan from Hepher.
Numbers 26:33Now Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons but only daughters. The names of his daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
Numbers 26:34These were the clans of Manasseh, and their registration numbered 52,700.
Numbers 26:35These were the descendants of Ephraim by their clans: The Shuthelahite clan from Shuthelah, the Becherite clan from Becher, and the Tahanite clan from Tahan.
Numbers 26:36And the descendants of Shuthelah were the Eranite clan from Eran.
Numbers 26:37These were the clans of Ephraim, and their registration numbered 32,500. These clans were the descendants of Joseph.
Numbers 26:38These were the descendants of Benjamin by their clans: The Belaite clan from Bela, the Ashbelite clan from Ashbel, the Ahiramite clan from Ahiram,
Numbers 26:39the Shuphamite clan from Shupham, and the Huphamite clan from Hupham.
Numbers 26:40And the descendants of Bela from Ard and Naaman were the Ardite clan from Ard and the Naamite clan from Naaman.
Numbers 26:41These were the clans of Benjamin, and their registration numbered 45,600.
Numbers 26:42These were the descendants of Dan by their clans: The Shuhamite clan from Shuham. These were the clans of Dan.
Numbers 26:43All of them were Shuhamite clans, and their registration numbered 64,400.
Numbers 26:44These were the descendants of Asher by their clans: The Imnite clan from Imnah, the Ishvite clan from Ishvi, and the Beriite clan from Beriah.
Numbers 26:45And these were the descendants of Beriah: the Heberite clan from Heber and the Malchielite clan from Malchiel.
Numbers 26:46And the name of Asher’s daughter was Serah.
Numbers 26:47These were the clans of Asher, and their registration numbered 53,400.
Numbers 26:48These were the descendants of Naphtali by their clans: The Jahzeelite clan from Jahzeel, the Gunite clan from Guni,
Numbers 26:49the Jezerite clan from Jezer, and the Shillemite clan from Shillem.
Numbers 26:50These were the clans of Naphtali, and their registration numbered 45,400.
Numbers 26:51These men of Israel numbered 601,730 in all.
Numbers 26:52Then the LORD said to Moses,
Numbers 26:53“The land is to be divided among the tribes as an inheritance, according to the number of names.
Numbers 26:54Increase the inheritance for a large tribe and decrease it for a small one; each tribe is to receive its inheritance according to the number of those registered.
Numbers 26:55Indeed, the land must be divided by lot; they shall receive their inheritance according to the names of the tribes of their fathers.
Numbers 26:56Each inheritance is to be divided by lot among the larger and smaller tribes.”
Numbers 26:57Now these were the Levites numbered by their clans: The Gershonite clan from Gershon, the Kohathite clan from Kohath, and the Merarite clan from Merari.
Numbers 26:58These were the families of the Levites: The Libnite clan, the Hebronite clan, the Mahlite clan, the Mushite clan, and the Korahite clan. Now Kohath was the father of Amram,
Numbers 26:59and Amram’s wife was named Jochebed. She was also a daughter of Levi, born to Levi in Egypt. To Amram she bore Aaron, Moses, and their sister Miriam.
Numbers 26:60Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar were born to Aaron,
Numbers 26:61but Nadab and Abihu died when they offered unauthorized fire before the LORD.
Numbers 26:62The registration of the Levites totaled 23,000, every male a month old or more; they were not numbered among the other Israelites, because no inheritance was given to them among the Israelites.
Numbers 26:63These were the ones numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest when they counted the Israelites on the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho.
Numbers 26:64Among all these, however, there was not one who had been numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest when they counted the Israelites in the Wilderness of Sinai.
Numbers 26:65For the LORD had told them that they would surely die in the wilderness. Not one was left except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
1 Chronicles 2:1These were the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,
Genesis 25:20and Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan-aram and the sister of Laban the Aramean.
Genesis 34:1Now Dinah, the daughter Leah had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the daughters of the land.
Genesis 34:2When Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the region, saw her, he took her and lay with her by force.
Genesis 34:3And his soul was drawn to Dinah, the daughter of Jacob. He loved the young girl and spoke to her tenderly.
Genesis 34:4So Shechem told his father Hamor, “Get me this girl as a wife.”
Genesis 34:5Jacob heard that Shechem had defiled his daughter Dinah, but since his sons were with his livestock in the field, he remained silent about it until they returned.
Genesis 34:6Meanwhile, Shechem’s father Hamor came to speak with Jacob.
Genesis 34:7When Jacob’s sons heard what had happened, they returned from the field. They were filled with grief and fury, because Shechem had committed an outrage in Israel by lying with Jacob’s daughter—a thing that should not be done.
Genesis 34:8But Hamor said to them, “My son Shechem longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as his wife.
Genesis 34:9Intermarry with us; give us your daughters, and take our daughters for yourselves.
Genesis 34:10You may settle among us, and the land will be open to you. Live here, move about freely, and acquire your own property.”
Genesis 34:11Then Shechem said to Dinah’s father and brothers, “Grant me this favor, and I will give you whatever you ask.
Genesis 34:12Demand a high dowry and an expensive gift, and I will give you whatever you ask. Only give me the girl as my wife!”
Genesis 34:13But because Shechem had defiled their sister Dinah, Jacob’s sons answered him and his father Hamor deceitfully.
Genesis 34:14“We cannot do such a thing,” they said. “To give our sister to an uncircumcised man would be a disgrace to us.
Genesis 34:15We will consent to this on one condition, that you become circumcised like us—every one of your males.
Genesis 34:16Then we will give you our daughters and take your daughters for ourselves. We will dwell among you and become one people.
Genesis 34:17But if you will not agree to be circumcised, then we will take our sister and go.”
Genesis 34:18Their offer seemed good to Hamor and his son Shechem.
Genesis 34:19The young man, who was the most respected of all his father’s household, did not hesitate to fulfill this request, because he was delighted with Jacob’s daughter.
Genesis 34:20So Hamor and his son Shechem went to the gate of their city and addressed the men of their city:
Genesis 34:21“These men are at peace with us. Let them live and trade in our land; indeed, it is large enough for them. Let us take their daughters in marriage and give our daughters to them.
Genesis 34:22But only on this condition will the men agree to dwell with us and be one people: if all our men are circumcised as they are.
Genesis 34:23Will not their livestock, their possessions, and all their animals become ours? Only let us consent to them, and they will dwell among us.”
Genesis 34:24All the men who went out of the city gate listened to Hamor and his son Shechem, and every male of the city was circumcised.
Genesis 34:25Three days later, while they were still in pain, two of Jacob’s sons (Dinah’s brothers Simeon and Levi) took their swords, went into the unsuspecting city, and slaughtered every male.
Genesis 34:26They killed Hamor and his son Shechem with their swords, took Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and went away.
Genesis 34:27Jacob’s other sons came upon the slaughter and looted the city, because their sister had been defiled.
Genesis 34:28They took their flocks and herds and donkeys, and everything else in the city or in the field.
Genesis 34:29They carried off all their possessions and women and children, and they plundered everything in their houses.
Genesis 34:30Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have brought trouble upon me by making me a stench to the Canaanites and Perizzites, the people of this land. We are few in number; if they unite against me and attack me, I and my household will be destroyed.”
Genesis 34:31But they replied, “Should he have treated our sister like a prostitute?”
