The Bible, word by word

Read the Hebrew Old Testament and Greek New Testament with STEPBible’s transliteration, grammar and English glosses beside each word.

Each word links to its Strong’s entry. Hebrew runs from right to left; Greek runs from left to right. The English gloss gives a short sense of a word in context. Read the BSB sentence above it for the translation.

The Greek text follows the SBL edition marked in TAGNT. The Hebrew text follows the main reading in TAHOT. These editions can differ from the wording behind an English translation. Chapter pages retain the source’s alternate verse references where supplied.

Grammar labels describe a word’s form. A verb’s tense, voice and mood help you follow the sentence; nouns and pronouns carry case, number and gender. The original morphology code appears beneath its English expansion for readers who want to check the source.
